I’ve been looking for something like this for a while now. The Crumpler Haven is a camera bag for your bag if that makes sense. I’ve got a Vanguard sling backpack which I take with me on shoots and it has all my camera gear loaded in it and is great. Problem is that sometimes I don’t want to take everything and it also won’t fit my iPad. The idea behind this is that I can pack the camera gear that I would take with me, ie, camera, a lens, cleaning cloth and maybe some spare cards and then put this inside another bag with other stuff like clothes, books etc and still protect my camera stuff.

Let’s take a look at this thing…

As with all things Crumpler, if you are looking for plain or neutral colours, you are well out of luck. It’s nothing but bright and fluro and in this case, fluro orange! It has a draw string at the top to close the bag and makes it easy to access. Handy also if you overflow the bag so that it mostly closes unlike if it were a zipper.

That’s what it looks like on the inside. The dividers are attached via velcro so you can rip them out and adjust them depending on what gear you are putting inside them. In the default position, the dividers at the top are hard and fold down so it’s really easy to place your camera in the bag or remove it without fiddling around too much to make sure that it’s safe and secure. I picked up the large size which comfortably holds a camera and a couple of lenses.

Here I loaded it up with the 12-24, 85 and the D60 with the 18-135 and it still had a bit of room left inside.

Finally a shot of the back of the Haven, it’s cleverly got a few pockets of different sizes so you can fit a variety of accessories. Here I’ve got my iPod cable, the iPad camera connection kit (both SD Card reader and USB) as well as a lenspen and a couple of memory cards.

The Crumpler Haven Camera Pouch is a handy bag for a bag which I think serves its purpose very well. You can easily pack your camera gear and then put it in a larger bag and not worry about your gear getting damaged. If you aren’t after a bag for a bag then this probably isn’t for you. It sells for $49/$59/$69 in three (3) sizes and can be found online or at your local Crumpler store.
